Campus as a Living Lab (CLL): Corvus Energy

On Wednesday October 23rd, 2013, the ECE department and ECESS are honoured to have Geoff Davenport from Corvus Energy speak as part of the Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) series. The event will be from 12PM to 1PM in MCLD 418.

Energy Storage – The Missing Link in our Energy Grid

Abstract

Energy Storage has moved well beyond the realm of the ‘battery’. Despite the fact that our familiar 100 year old lead acid battery technology is actually a growth industry, batteries are evolving to become a highly complex and often underestimated technology that has the potential to dramatically change how power is generated, distributed and consumed. I will talk about battery technology and how the UBC Living Lab project is helping lead the drive to understand how energy storage is quickly becoming the missing component in grid infrastructure.
